InSb / GaSb / AlSb Narrow-Gap Photodetector
Interactive 3D simulator of III-V antimonide (InSb, GaSb, AlSb) infrared photodetector physics: Varshni bandgap narrowing with temperature, IR cutoff wavelength, and thermal dark current, with a live zinc-blende lattice and photon absorption events.
This simulator models the physics that makes III-V antimonide nanomaterials — indium antimonide (InSb), gallium antimonide (GaSb) and aluminium antimonide (AlSb) — the workhorse of infrared detectors and lasers. A real zinc-blende crystal lattice renders in 3D while the Varshni equation narrows or widens each material's bandgap with temperature, live photon particles are absorbed or transmitted depending on whether their energy clears that gap, and the readouts track cutoff wavelength, photon energy and the thermally-driven dark current that ultimately limits detector performance.
Interactive 3D simulator of III-V antimonide (InSb, GaSb, AlSb) infrared photodetector physics: watch the Varshni relation narrow each material's bandgap with temperature, track the resulting IR cutoff wavelength, and see live photon particles get absorbed or transmitted by a real zinc-blende crystal lattice.
