InSb / GaSb / AlSb Narrow-Gap Photodetector

This simulator models the physics that makes III-V antimonide nanomaterials — indium antimonide (InSb), gallium antimonide (GaSb) and aluminium antimonide (AlSb) — the workhorse of infrared detectors and lasers. A real zinc-blende crystal lattice renders in 3D while the Varshni equation narrows or widens each material's bandgap with temperature, live photon particles are absorbed or transmitted depending on whether their energy clears that gap, and the readouts track cutoff wavelength, photon energy and the thermally-driven dark current that ultimately limits detector performance.
