This simulator compares two transistor switching mechanisms side by side: the thermionic emission that governs every classical MOSFET, and the band-to-band quantum tunneling used by Tunnel FETs (TFETs) — a leading beyond-CMOS device concept. Sweep the gate voltage to watch electrons cross the channel by climbing over a potential barrier (MOSFET) or tunneling directly through the forbidden gap of a p-i-n junction (TFET), while the live I-V chart plots how much steeper the TFET's subthreshold turn-on can be compared to the classical thermal limit.
