Near-Field Radiative Heat Transfer (2D)
Interactive 2D companion simulator for near-field radiative heat transfer: drag the gap between two nanoscale plates directly or use the log-scale slider, switch between a polar dielectric (SiO2) and a metal (gold), and watch a live log-log enhancement-factor chart track photon-tunneling flux far past the Stefan-Boltzmann blackbody limit.
This 2D companion to the 3D near-field radiative heat transfer simulator models the same evanescent photon-tunneling physics a genuinely different way: a draggable side-on gap diagram sits above a live log-log chart of the enhancement factor across the full 10 nm to 10 um range, with both the SiO2 and gold curves drawn at once so you can compare how a polar dielectric's strong surface-phonon-polariton resonance out-performs a metal's weaker surface-plasmon coupling at every gap, not just the one you're currently on. Drag the hot plate directly or use the log-scale slider, switch material, and adjust both plate temperatures to watch the blackbody flux, near-field flux and enhancement factor update live alongside an animated density of tunneling photons crossing the gap.
