Halide crystals like NaI(Tl), CsI(Tl) and CaF₂(Eu) are the working material inside every gamma-ray spectrometer, PET/CT scanner and radiation portal monitor: each absorbed gamma photon triggers a burst of visible-light "scintillation" photons whose count is proportional to the deposited energy. This 2D cross-section simulator fires gamma photons at a chosen energy into a real ion lattice, animates the resulting electron-hole cascade migrating to activator sites and emitting light toward a photomultiplier, and accumulates a genuine Poisson-sampled pulse-height spectrum — including the statistical peak broadening that limits every real detector's energy resolution.
