This 2D companion to the whole-organ 3D hepatostat simulation renders the same partial-hepatectomy regeneration as an actual spatial process: a cross-section of liver tissue in which local hepatocyte density both diffuses and proliferates, so the regrowth you watch is a genuine reaction-diffusion (Fisher–KPP) traveling wave sweeping out from the remnant tissue into the resected region — not an instant volumetric reveal keyed to a single mass number. The same hepatostat logistic brake and HGF/EGF decay pulse from the 3D model drive the local growth rate, so disabling the hepatostat toggle produces the same unchecked-overshoot failure mode, but now visibly as tissue density pushing past normal everywhere at once rather than a capped sphere.
