Nerve Guidance Conduit 2D: Cross-Section Growth-Cone Model
Interactive 2D cross-section model of regenerating axon growth cones crossing a nerve guidance conduit: a diametral slice through the conduit reduces the biased persistent random walk to two dimensions, trading a chemotactic NGF pull against contact guidance from aligned microchannels.
This is a 2D companion to the 3D nerve guidance conduit simulator. Rather than projecting the 3D scene, it works directly in the exact diametral cross-section of the conduit — a rectangle bounded by the two flat traces the cylindrical lumen wall leaves when cut through its axis. Growth cones run the same chemotaxis-vs-contact-guidance persistent random walk as the 3D model, now expressed with two-dimensional headings and exact flat-wall reflection. Adjust the same four controls to see how the bridging success rate, time-to-bridge, and lateral deviation respond.
