This simulator models the physical mechanism behind OCT — the imaging technique that lets ophthalmologists see retinal layers and cardiologists see inside coronary arteries without a single incision. A low-coherence beam sweeps across a layered tissue sample; at every lateral position it performs a full axial scan, gated by the source's coherence length so that only echoes from matching optical path lengths interfere. Each layer boundary reflects light according to the Fresnel equations for its refractive-index step, and the accumulated coherence-gated echoes build up, column by column, into a real B-scan cross-section rendered live in 3D. Adjust the source's center wavelength and bandwidth to see the classic OCT resolution–sensitivity trade-off, switch between skin, retinal and arterial tissue presets, and watch the live A-scan trace as the probe sweeps.
