🔒 Hive Security: Preventing Beehive Theft

Practical physical security, marking and surveillance measures UK beekeepers use to protect hives from theft and vandalism.

A small apiary where an intruder periodically tries to steal a hive, and whether the attempt succeeds depends entirely on which layered security measures — perimeter fencing, CCTV/motion lighting, hive straps and hidden GPS trackers — are switched on.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Real apiary security works in layers: a fence deters casual entry, cameras and lights deter planned attempts, straps and padlocks physically stop lifting, and covert tracking recovers what does get taken.

🎮 How to Use

Toggle each security measure on or off and watch the intruder's fate change. Adjust intruder frequency or trigger an attempt manually, then watch the security score and event log update.

💡 Did You Know?

UK beekeeping associations recommend combining several deterrents rather than relying on one — a lock alone rarely stops a determined thief, but a fence, camera, strap and hidden tracker together make theft far less worthwhile.

⚙ Under the hood

A 3D apiary scene where an intruder periodically tries to steal a hive; toggling a perimeter fence, CCTV/motion light, hive strap-and-padlock and hidden GPS tracker changes exactly where and how the theft attempt is stopped or recovered.
