🧪 Bioluminescent Plankton (2D)

A top-down canvas rendition of bioluminescent plankton: particles drift through a flow field and flash on their own rhythm, and moving your pointer through the water mechanically triggers a bright flash — the same disturbance response real plankton show.

This 2D companion swaps the 3D original's GPU shader for a plain canvas particle field: each of 1,400 points drifts through a trig-based flow field and pulses on its own slow rhythm, mimicking the luciferin-luciferase glow of real dinoflagellates. Move your pointer or finger through the scene and every plankton it passes near flashes instantly bright — the same mechanical-disturbance response that makes a boat wake or a swimming predator light up a real bioluminescent bay.
