Bioluminescent Plankton (2D)

Certain marine dinoflagellates flash blue-green light through a luciferin-luciferase reaction inside scintillon organelles, most often triggered by mechanical disturbance — a breaking wave, a boat wake, a predator brushing past. This top-down canvas view reproduces that: particles drift through a trig-based flow field and pulse on their own slow rhythm, but moving your pointer through the water mechanically stimulates every cell it passes near, forcing an instant bright flash — the same disturbance response real bioluminescent plankton show.
