Local Exhaust Ventilation & Irritant Concentration Simulator
Interactive 3D workplace-air model: a chemical irritant source, a local exhaust hood and general dilution ventilation compete in real time. Tune emission rate, hood airflow, distance and air-change rate and watch the mass-balance concentration climb, stabilize or clear against the exposure limit.
Airborne chemical irritants — solvent vapors, welding fume, cleaning-product off-gas — build up or clear out of a workspace according to a straightforward mass balance between how fast they are generated and how fast air removes them. This simulator renders a 3D workroom with a contaminant source and a local exhaust hood, drives a real single-compartment well-mixed model (dC/dt = generation − removal) at the rate your sliders set, and layers a physically grounded hood-capture model — the ACGIH unflanged-opening capture-velocity equation v = Q/(10x²+A) — on top so that hood flow and source distance trade off exactly the way they do on a real shop floor. Live readouts track instantaneous concentration against a reference occupational exposure limit (OEL), the analytic steady-state concentration the current settings converge to, and the capture velocity and efficiency at the hood face, while particles drift through the room colored by local exposure level.
A 3D workroom mass-balance model where an airborne chemical irritant source competes against a local exhaust hood and general dilution ventilation, driven by real ACGIH capture-velocity and well-mixed room equations against an exposure-limit threshold.
