A sloped apiary sits above a stream, separated by a vegetated riparian buffer. Rain washes sediment downhill toward the water — the buffer, ground cover and terracing decide how much of it actually gets there.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Bare, steep, rain-lashed ground sheds sediment fastest; vegetated ground cover, a wider riparian buffer strip and hillside terracing all intercept runoff before it reaches the stream, raising water clarity and an overall site score.

🎮 How to Use

Drag the buffer width, ground cover, rainfall intensity and terracing sliders and watch sediment particles wash downslope and settle out — or get trapped — before the water's edge. Toggle the bee watering station to see it keep foragers off the open bank.
