🧪 Film Marketing Simulation
Simulate a film's box-office rollout with the Bass diffusion model: tune ad spend, word-of-mouth strength and market size, and watch a 3D audience of moviegoers convert from unaware to ticket buyers in real time.
This simulator models how a film's box-office audience actually forms over time, using the Bass diffusion model — the same math distributors use to forecast a release's rollout. Two forces drive every ticket sale: advertising (the innovation coefficient p, pushed by trailers and paid media) and word-of-mouth (the imitation coefficient q, driven by people who already saw it talking about it). A 3D cloud of a few thousand simulated moviegoers starts entirely unaware; each simulated day every still-unconverted person rolls against the current hazard rate p + q·F and, on success, turns gold and buys a ticket. Tune ad spend, word-of-mouth strength, target market size and ticket price, then watch whether the campaign produces a front-loaded opening-weekend spike or a slow word-of-mouth-driven long tail — and read the resulting box office and adoption curve live.
This simulation demonstrates the principles of marketing and audience engagement within the film industry. It explores how promotional strategies can influence a film's success, highlighting key factors like target demographics and media channels.
