Terracing & Cover-Crop Erosion Control — Hillslope Cross-Section (2D)
Interactive 2D cross-section of an eroding hillslope: adjust slope angle, terrace count, ground-cover fraction and rainfall intensity and watch the same runoff-velocity and canopy-interception physics as the 3D simulator — now with a pannable, zoomable side profile that makes each terrace riser and platform legible.
This 2D companion to the 3D terracing simulator strips the hillside down to the side-on cross-section its physics actually lives in: a stepped slope profile of platforms and risers, with rain falling onto it and runoff carrying a sediment tint that darkens as erosion rate rises. The same runoff-velocity model (V = √(2gRh), reset at every terrace and bled off crossing every platform) and the same canopy-interception model for ground cover drive the exact readouts as the 3D version — runoff velocity, relative kinetic energy, estimated soil loss and the percentage reduction against an untreated bare slope — but the flattened side view makes it easy to pan along a long terraced slope or zoom into a single riser to see exactly where the water decelerates.
