This simulation treats a pumpkin's rind as a thin curved shell under internal turgor pressure, the same category of problem as a pressurized pipe or an aircraft fuselage. Placing an eye, nose or mouth cutout removes load-bearing shell material, and the live heatmap shows how the surrounding rind must pick up that load — concentrating it most sharply at tight corners, exactly as predicted by classic stress-concentration theory. Thin out the rind, raise the internal pressure, or carve with sharp angular corners instead of rounded ones, and watch the peak stress climb toward the rind's cracking point — a direct, hands-on demonstration of why real pressure vessels and window cutouts are always designed with rounded fillets.
