Mechanical engineers size gear trains every day to turn a motor's native speed and torque into whatever a machine actually needs at its output shaft. This 2D simulator drives a three-gear train — driver, idler, driven — and animates real meshing rotation while tracking the exact speed and torque ratios that the tooth counts impose. Change the input speed, the driver and driven tooth counts, or the resisting load torque, and watch the output RPM and output torque respond instantly according to ω₂/ω₁ = N₁/N₂ and T₂/T₁ = N₂/N₁.

⚙ Under the hood

Explore how gear ratios affect speed and torque in a 2D diagram. Adjust driver, idler, and driven gears to see changes in their rotational speeds.
