Green Data Center: PUE & Renewable Cooling

Interactive 3D simulation of a green data center: tune IT load, cooling technology and outside air temperature to see Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) respond in real time, and shift the power mix toward on-site solar and wind.

Data centers now account for a meaningful share of global electricity demand, and how efficiently they turn grid power into computing is measured by Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). This simulation models a data hall of server racks, a switchable cooling system (air, liquid or free-air economizer), and an on-site solar-plus-wind supply. Adjust IT load, outside temperature and cooling technology to watch PUE respond in real time, then push the renewable share up to see how much of that power can come from the sun and wind instead of the grid.
