🌼 Planting for Continuous Bloom: Succession, Soil and Care

An interactive 3D garden bed that shows how succession planting, soil type and fertility management keep flowers blooming — and bees fed — from spring through autumn.

A 3D garden bed of six overlapping plant groups, each with its own real bloom window, shows why succession planning — not any single "best" plant — is what keeps a garden feeding bees from spring through autumn.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Toggling succession planting off forces every clump onto the same midsummer window, exposing the long bare gaps a single-flush border leaves. Soil type and fertility scale how vigorous and floriferous each clump can become.

🎮 How to Use

Scrub the month slider to watch flowers open and fade on schedule. Compare succession on/off, switch soil types to see the cutaway profile and vigour ceiling change, and adjust fertility & care to see stunted vs lush growth.

💡 Did You Know?

A well-planned UK border can offer continuous bee forage for 8–9 months of the year, while a border planted for one big seasonal show may only flower for 6–8 weeks.

⚙ Under the hood

An interactive 3D garden bed with six plant clumps, each with a real bloom window, lets visitors scrub through the year, toggle succession planting on/off, switch soil types, and adjust fertility to see how these choices open or close gaps in bee forage.
