🍀 Clover and Wildflowers: Low-Effort Bee Forage

A 3D garden patch where mowing height, season and seed-mix choice decide how much clover and wildflower forage is on offer for bees.

A circular garden patch that switches between a mown lawn, a clover lawn, a wildflower meadow and a mixed planting, so you can see exactly how mowing height, season and seed-mix choice change how much forage is actually on offer for bees.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Clover flowers only open once mowing height clears a threshold, and wildflowers need an even longer rest between cuts; each species also has its own bloom window across the year. The forage score, bloom cover and pollinator-type count all update live from these rules.

🎮 How to Use

Pick a seed mix, drag the mowing-height and month sliders, and toggle between a native UK wildflower mix and an ornamental one to see forager bees, bumblebees, hoverflies and butterflies respond to what's actually in bloom.

💡 Did You Know?

Letting a clover lawn grow for just a few extra weeks, as in "No Mow May", can unlock far more flowers — and far more nectar — than the same lawn mown short all season, for no extra gardening effort.

⚙ Under the hood

An interactive 3D garden patch where mowing height, season and seed-mix choice (clover, wildflower meadow, or mix, native or ornamental) determine how much bloom is on offer, with forager bees, bumblebees, hoverflies and butterflies responding live to a computed forage score.
