Chemical Pollution — River Advection-Diffusion Simulator

Interactive river pollution simulator: click to release a chemical pollutant into a flowing channel and watch it advect downstream and diffuse via a real random-walk advection-diffusion model, with a live danger-zone heatmap against a tunable MAC/ГДК threshold.

Water pollution rarely stays where it enters a river: a discharge is carried downstream by the current, spreads sideways by turbulent mixing, and — depending on the chemical — either lingers for kilometers or breaks down within meters. This simulator tracks every released pollutant parcel individually, advecting it with a realistic channel flow profile and diffusing it with random-walk noise, while a live heatmap on the riverbed marks exactly where the concentration is still above the maximum admissible concentration (ГДК/MAC). Click to move the outfall, tune the flow speed, release rate and pollutant persistence, and watch the danger zone grow or shrink in real time.

⚙ Under the hood

Click to release a chemical pollutant into a flowing river channel and watch it advect downstream and diffuse via a particle-based random-walk solution of the advection-diffusion equation, with a live riverbed heatmap marking zones above a tunable MAC (ГДК) threshold and a persistent-vs-biodegradable decay model.
