Sparkler Combustion: Metal Particle Sparks (2D)

2D side-view simulation of a burning sparkler's metal-powder combustion particles — ballistic spark trajectories, blackbody cooling color and iron's branching sparks. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, tap the tip to wave it.

This side-view simulation renders a burning sparkler tip ejecting metal-combustion particles across a 2D plane. Each spark's motion is computed independently from gravity and a drag force proportional to velocity squared relative to the ambient wind, its color follows a blackbody-temperature approximation as it cools, and iron sparks can fork mid-flight the way secondary oxidation fragments real iron droplets. Switch metals, tune ejection rate/speed, wind and lifetime, pan and zoom the view, and tap the tip to give the sparkler a wave.
