Diving mammals carry a fixed oxygen budget into every breath-hold dive, split across three real compartments: the lungs, the blood, and the myoglobin locked in swimming muscle. This 2D version plots each compartment's oxygen level live as a Weddell seal, sperm whale or Cuvier's beaked whale descends, forages and ascends, with heart rate falling into bradycardia the instant the animal submerges. Because the mammalian dive response shunts blood away from muscle, the core (lung + blood) is what actually determines blackout risk — the simulator numerically fast-forwards your current dive plan at every step to tell you, honestly, whether it ends in a safe surfacing or a blackout.
