🦓 Animal Coat Patterns: Turing Reaction–Diffusion on 3-D Zebras, Leopards and Giraffes
Reaction-diffusion (Turing) patterns grow live on the UV surfaces of Blender-modelled 3-D animals, with the linear-stability dispersion relation compared against the wavelength measured in the pattern.
Turing reaction-diffusion patterns (Gray-Scott and an activator-inhibitor model) grow live in the UV texture of Blender-modelled 3-D zebra, leopard, giraffe and angelfish bodies, with a metric-corrected Laplacian, growing-body and thin-tail (stripes vs spots) effects, and the linear-stability dispersion relation checked against the FFT wavelength measured in the pattern. Unlike the existing flat 2-D Turing and reaction-diffusion pages, the pattern lives on 3-D animal surfaces and a growing domain.
