Bee Pollination Dynamics: Pollen Transfer & Cross-Pollination Lab (2D)
2D bee-pollination lab: a real agent-based pollen-transfer model — foraging bees carry decaying pollen grains between two flower species, and a landing only fertilizes a stigma when a viable, compatible grain from a different flower arrives, so cross- vs self-pollination rates emerge from the mechanics instead of being scripted.
This 2D companion replaces the decorative 3D scene with the actual pollination mechanic implied by the title: each forager carries a small, capacity-limited load of aging pollen grains between two flower species, and a flower is only fertilized when a still-viable grain from a genuinely different plant of the same species lands on its stigma — so the cross-pollination rate, the self-pollination count and the honey economy all emerge from the agent rules rather than being scripted, and you can watch them shift as you change colony size, flower density, wind-driven pollen desiccation and forage range.
2D agent-based pollen-transfer model with decaying pollen viability, capacity-limited bee pollen loads, and separately tracked cross- vs self-pollination outcomes plus a nectar/honey economy.
