This simulator applies blade element theory to a real variable-pitch propeller. The blade is divided into radial strips, each with its own twist angle derived from the collective pitch setting, its own local inflow angle from the combination of rotational and forward speed, and its own resulting angle of attack, lift and drag. Adjust pitch, RPM and airspeed to see the angle of attack, thrust, torque and propulsive efficiency respond exactly as they do on a real constant-speed propeller — including stall near the root at coarse pitch and low speed, and negative angle of attack near the tip at fine pitch and high speed.
