Rocket Turbopump — 2D Feed-System Simulator
A flat schematic of a gas-generator-cycle turbopump: a turbine spins a common shaft carrying the fuel and LOX centrifugal pumps, whose discharge pressure follows the ω² affinity law, while spring-loaded valves meter each propellant into a chamber governed by a real combustion mass-balance / choked-nozzle model.
The 3D original for this sim turned out to be a mislabeled shared-template stub — a generic slider dashboard reused across dozens of unrelated topics rather than genuine turbopump physics. This 2D companion builds the real mechanic instead: a gas-generator turbine spins a shaft carrying two centrifugal pumps, each pump's discharge pressure rising with the square of shaft speed (the affinity law), valve orifices metering flow by √ΔP, and a combustion-chamber mass balance where propellant mass in competes against choked-nozzle mass out to set chamber pressure and thrust.
Shaft speed eases toward a throttle-set target; each pump's pressure rise scales with ω² (centrifugal affinity law); fuel and LOX valves meter flow via the orifice equation Q ∝ √ΔP; and chamber pressure integrates combustion mass-in against choked-nozzle mass-out to drive a thrust estimate.
