🌩️ Supercell Storm Simulator (2D)
A 2D canvas cutaway of a supercell thunderstorm — pull the same atmospheric-energy and wind-shear levers as the 3D scene to spin up the mesocyclone, drop a wall-cloud funnel, and trigger lightning.
Severe-weather forecasters read a supercell off exactly two numbers before anything else: CAPE (Convective Available Potential Energy, how much fuel the atmosphere has stored up) and vertical wind shear (how much the wind's speed and direction change with height). This 2D companion strips the 3D scene down to those two sliders and shows their combined effect directly — a weighted score drives the same rotation classification (Moderate → Strong → Violent) and tornado-risk label as the 3D original, the mesocyclone bands spin faster as shear rises, the wall-cloud funnel only becomes visible once the score crosses a threshold, and lightning fires automatically once CAPE passes 3,200 J/kg (or on demand via the button), so cause and effect stay legible in a flat side-view cutaway instead of a rotating 3D camera.
2D canvas cutaway of a supercell thunderstorm: CAPE and wind-shear sliders drive an updraft-speed estimate, a mesocyclone rotation classification, a tornado-risk score, a wall-cloud funnel, drifting rain, and on-demand or automatic lightning.
