Exclusive Economic Zone & Maritime Boundary Map (2D)

Two coastal states face each other across a strait, viewed here as a true top-down nautical chart. This 2D counterpart computes, for every point of sea, the same real nearest-point distance to each state's baseline as the 3D version and renders the resulting UNCLOS zones — 12 nmi territorial sea, 24 nmi contiguous zone, 200 nmi exclusive economic zone, and an optional 350 nmi extended continental shelf claim — as a pannable, zoomable map. Drag the strait width apart and the two 200 nmi claims stop overlapping; bring the coasts closer and Article 15's default equidistance median line reappears exactly where the two distances are equal, with the affected zone of overlap reported in nautical miles alongside each state's total claimed area.
