This is the same power-law tail-fitting analysis as the 2D version, rendered as a 3D log-log surface instead of a flat scatter plot: severity and rank form the floor, and each incident's height is how far its report sits off the fitted ridge line. A genuine power-law dataset collapses onto a thin, nearly flat ridge running across the floor; injecting an embellishment bias visibly lifts a cluster of points off that ridge, forming a bulge exactly where exaggerated high-severity claims accumulate. Rotate the scene to see the ridge from any angle and watch how sharply the surface deviates as embellishment increases.
