CME Early Warning: L1 Lead Time Simulator

Launch a coronal mass ejection and watch it cross 150 million km toward Earth. Toggle an L1 Lagrange-point early-warning system on and off to see how a 15-60 minute lead time lets satellites enter safe mode and power grids take protective action before the CME hits.

Trigger a coronal mass ejection and watch its plasma front expand outward from the Sun toward Earth. An L1 sentinel satellite sits between the two — with early warning enabled it detects the front as it passes and starts a lead-time countdown, giving Earth's satellites time to enter safe mode and the power grid time to take protective action before the same cloud arrives. Switch early warning off to see the identical eruption strike completely unannounced.
