Strombolian Volcanic Eruption (2D)

A 2D cross-section eruption lab: chamber pressure, gas content and magma viscosity drive explosivity, lava flow and ash-plume height, with a live VEI (Volcanic Explosivity Index) readout.

This 2D companion renders the same eruption model as the 3D version — chamber pressure, gas content, magma viscosity and eruption style (Strombolian, effusive or Plinian) — as a side-view cross section. Ash particles drift downwind while lava descends the cone under a slope-following viscosity model, and a live VEI, plume-height, lava-flux and coverage readout updates as you adjust the sliders.

⚙ Under the hood

2D cross-section volcano lab: pressure, gas and viscosity sliders drive explosivity and effusion rate, lava particles follow a slope-descent model, and ash drifts with a wind vector while a VEI readout tracks the current regime.
