Chladni Plate Resonance (2D)
Top-down Canvas2D Chladni-plate lab: sand grains gradient-descend toward the nodal lines of a driven plate's standing-wave pattern as the resonant mode cycles, with a live displacement-field colour overlay.
This 2D companion renders the same Chladni displacement field as the 3D original from directly above: a colour map shows the plate's instantaneous up/down motion, and thousands of sand grains gradient-descend toward the zero-crossings — the motionless "nodal lines" — while jitter proportional to local amplitude keeps them bouncing off the noisy antinodes, so the pattern visibly self-organizes as the driving mode cycles.
Canvas2D Chladni-plate simulator: a driven-mode displacement field rendered as a colour overlay, and sand grains that gradient-descend toward its nodal lines while jittering off the antinodes, reproducing the classic 18th-century cymatics experiment.
