Academic Opinion Clustering — 3D Simulator

A 3D Deffuant bounded-confidence simulation: academics are points scattered around a shared skeptical-to-convinced axis, drifting together into visible clusters only when their opinions already sit within a confidence threshold ε of each other — a real opinion-dynamics model, orbit the scene to watch camps of belief form and lock in place.

This 3D companion visualizes the same Deffuant bounded-confidence opinion-dynamics model as a cloud of academics scattered around a shared skeptical-to-convinced axis, rather than a flat histogram. Each academic only moves when a randomly paired peer's opinion already sits within a confidence threshold ε of their own — beyond that threshold the pair simply does not interact — so orbiting the scene lets you watch the cloud pull apart into distinct, persistent clumps of belief instead of collapsing into one smeared consensus. Adjust ε, the convergence rate μ, and the population size, and see how a handful of independent rival camps can lock in place and never merge.
