Lumbar Disc Pressure & Lifting Mechanics (2D)

2D side-view lumbar-spine model: bend the trunk, hold a load at arm's length, and switch between a stoop lift and a squat lift to watch intradiscal pressure at L4-L5, spinal compressive force and erector-spinae muscle force update live on a moment-balance biomechanics engine.

This is the 2D companion to the 3D lumbar-spine lifting simulator, built on the same moment-balance biomechanics but rendered as a flat side-view profile: a stick-figure spine, pelvis and legs you can bend, load, and lift with, plus the same live erector-spinae muscle force, L4–L5 compressive force and intradiscal pressure readouts. Bend the trunk, add a hand-held load, change how far it sits from the body, and switch between a straight-legged stoop lift and a bent-knee squat lift to watch the monitored disc change colour and bulge as pressure rises — the same mechanics physical therapists use to teach safer lifting after a spinal injury.

⚙ Under the hood

2D side-view lumbar-spine model where bending the trunk, holding a load at arm's length, and switching between a stoop lift and a squat lift updates live intradiscal pressure, spinal compressive force and erector-spinae muscle force.
