Liquid Xenon Dark Matter Detector
Interactive dual-phase liquid xenon TPC simulator: fire nuclear-recoil (WIMP-like) or electron-recoil (background) events, watch the S1 scintillation and S2 ionization signals form in 3D, and see the S2/S1 discrimination band that real dark-matter detectors use to reject backgrounds.
This simulator models the working principle of a dual-phase liquid xenon time projection chamber — the instrument class behind the world's leading direct dark-matter searches. Fire a simulated particle interaction, choose whether it behaves like a WIMP nuclear recoil or an ordinary electron-recoil background, and watch the prompt S1 scintillation flash and the drifting, gas-amplified S2 ionization signal form in 3D exactly as they would in a real detector. Live readouts track the S1 and S2 photoelectron yields, the log₁₀(S2/S1) discrimination ratio, and the depth reconstructed purely from drift timing, while an accumulating S2/S1 scatter plot reveals the nuclear-recoil and electron-recoil bands that real experiments use to reject the gamma/beta background that vastly outnumbers any dark-matter signal.
Fire nuclear-recoil (WIMP-like) or electron-recoil (background) events in a simulated dual-phase liquid xenon TPC and watch the S1 scintillation and S2 ionization signals form in 3D, building the S2/S1 discrimination bands real dark-matter detectors use.
