Distinguishing a genuinely unexplained light in the sky from a mundane source rarely comes down to a single glance — it comes down to how the light behaves over time and what color it is. This simulator synthesizes a brightness-vs-time light curve for a chosen reference class (a steady planet, a brief satellite flare, a slowly fading balloon or re-entering debris, blinking aircraft strobes, or erratic ball lightning), extracts its color temperature from a simulated emission spectrum, and cross-correlates the shape of the live trace against a library of known signatures to report the closest match with a confidence score. Adjust sensor noise and sweep speed to see how measurement quality affects how confidently a source can be classified — exactly the tradeoff real observational photometry faces.
