🧲 Metal Detector and Ground-Penetrating Radar Physics: Test Lane Lab

A calibration test lane with a clear soil section shows how a search coil finds buried inert test discs by eddy-current induction (exact sphere polarisability, Biot-Savart coil field, 1/d^6 response, soil mineralisation and ground balance) and how a radar cart images the same ground with reflections and diffraction hyperbolas (Topp permittivity, lossy attenuation, layered Fresnel echoes). Two experiments compare detection depth against target diameter with the closed-form scaling and recover soil velocity from a hyperbola fit, checked against a 1-D FDTD Maxwell solver.
