This 2D companion to the 3D Bubble World strips soap-film decoration away and focuses purely on the mechanics of a bubble rising through a fluid: Archimedes buoyancy competing with weight and fluid added-mass inertia, quadratic drag that yields a genuine size-dependent terminal rise speed, elastic/inelastic collisions resolved as real momentum-conserving impulses, and coalescence driven by a Laplace-pressure-inspired film-drainage model that favors small bubbles merging quickly while letting large ones bounce apart. Tune fluid density, drag, gravity, restitution and coalescence rate to see how each one reshapes the bubble population over time.
