Jet Engine Cross-Section (2D)
Interactive 2D turbofan cross-section: control throttle and bypass ratio and watch intake, compressor, combustor, turbine and exhaust drive real thrust from Newton's third law.
This 2D simulator draws a turbofan jet engine in cross-section, from the intake lip through fan, compressor, combustor and turbine to the exhaust nozzle. Dial the throttle to spool the engine up or down and watch the fan and compressor stages spin faster, the combustor glow hotter, and particles race through the bypass duct and core at speeds that come from real jet-propulsion physics — thrust is computed live as mass flow rate multiplied by the change in exhaust velocity, exactly the Newton's-third-law bookkeeping a real engineer uses. Adjust the bypass ratio to see how shifting more air into the cool outer duct changes the balance of thrust between the quiet bypass stream and the fiery core.
Interactive 2D turbofan cross-section where throttle and bypass-ratio controls drive real jet-propulsion physics — thrust computed live as mass flow rate times the change in exhaust velocity.
