Digital Brain Archive: Bit-Rot vs Redundancy (2D)
A top-down 2D grid of a stored whole-brain connectome as thousands of redundant data shards, plus a live fidelity chart. Tune scan resolution, replication factor, annual failure rate and maintenance cycles and watch the archive survive — or erode to nothing — over centuries.
A whole-brain connectome upload is not a one-time act — it's an archive that has to survive indefinitely. This 2D companion renders the archived connectome as a flat grid of thousands of independent data shards, each replicated across several copies. Every simulated year, storage media fail at random, maintenance cycles try to re-replicate anything still partially intact, and shards that lose every last replica turn permanently dark — a literal, watchable model of how "digital immortality" lives or dies on storage engineering rather than on the scan itself. A live fidelity-over-time strip along the bottom of the canvas tracks the trend directly. Tune scan resolution, replication factor, annual failure rate and maintenance frequency and watch the archive either stabilize or collapse over centuries.
