Memory Engram Tagging & Optogenetic False-Memory Implantation (2D)
Interactive 2D engram-cell simulator: tag a neuron ensemble during a fear-conditioning event, tag a second ensemble in a neutral context, then drive the fear engram with light and watch the freezing response emerge from ensemble overlap — same allocation-hypothesis math as the 3D version, rendered as a pannable/zoomable 2D neuron field plus a live excitability histogram.
This simulator renders a population of hippocampal/amygdalar neurons on a pannable, zoomable 2D field and lets you replay the classic engram-tagging experiments: encode a neutral Context A, encode a fear-inducing Context B, watch how much the two tagged ensembles overlap, and then optogenetically reactivate the Context-B engram while the "animal" is still in neutral Context A — driving a freezing response out of cells that were never active during the real Context-A experience. Excitability-driven allocation, context-similarity-controlled overlap, and a saturating ChR2 reactivation curve are all modelled explicitly and exposed as live controls, a Jaccard-overlap readout, and a real-time excitability histogram.
2D pannable/zoomable neuron-field version of the engram-tagging simulator: tag a neuron ensemble during a fear-conditioning event and a second ensemble in a neutral context, then optogenetically reactivate the fear engram while the model animal is still in the neutral context — with a live excitability histogram showing exactly why the allocation threshold and context-similarity sliders reshape the two engrams and their overlap.
