The companion 2D simulation shows quantum confinement as an energy-level diagram; this one shows the physical object itself. An instanced 3D lattice of atoms fills a sphere whose radius you control, atoms in the outermost shell are highlighted to reveal the surface-to-volume scaling that drives nanomaterial reactivity, and a translucent electron probability cloud — drawn from the same particle-in-a-sphere ground state — contracts as the crystal shrinks. Orbit the camera to inspect the lattice from any angle while the radius and material sliders drive the identical size-dependent bandgap physics used in the 2D view.
