Feed-Forward Loop Network Motif

Interactive 3D simulator of the coherent type-1 feed-forward loop, the most common transcriptional network motif in systems biology: watch gene X drive gene Y and both drive gene Z under AND/OR promoter logic, and see the sign-sensitive delay that lets this circuit filter noise or persist after a signal ends.

The feed-forward loop is systems biology's most common three-gene network motif: an input transcription factor X drives an intermediate gene Y, and a downstream gene Z is controlled by both X and Y together through Boolean AND/OR promoter logic. This simulator renders the circuit as a live 3D gene-regulatory network — three nodes glowing with their instantaneous concentration and particles streaming along the regulatory edges — while integrating the real ordinary differential equations that govern Y and Z. Fire a short or a long input pulse, switch between AND and OR logic, and watch the resulting sign-sensitive delay: an AND-gated loop filters out brief noise and only responds to sustained signals, while an OR-gated loop responds instantly but keeps signalling after the input has already stopped.

Interactive 3D simulator of the coherent type-1 feed-forward loop, systems biology's most common transcriptional network motif: drive gene X, watch it activate intermediate gene Y and both jointly gate output gene Z, and see how AND/OR promoter logic produces a sign-sensitive delay that filters noise or extends the response.
