Feed-Forward Loop Network Motif (2D)
Interactive 2D simulator of the coherent type-1 feed-forward loop, systems biology's most common transcriptional network motif: drive gene X, watch it activate intermediate gene Y and both jointly gate output gene Z on a live node diagram and a scrubbable strip chart of the underlying ODEs, and see how AND/OR promoter logic produces a sign-sensitive delay.
The feed-forward loop is systems biology's most common three-gene network motif: an input transcription factor X drives an intermediate gene Y, and a downstream gene Z is controlled by both X and Y together through Boolean AND/OR promoter logic. This 2D simulator integrates the same ordinary differential equations as the 3D version — rendering the circuit as a flat node-and-edge diagram with particles streaming along the regulatory edges — and adds a scrubbable strip chart of X(t), Y(t) and Z(t) so the sign-sensitive delay between AND and OR logic is visible directly as a time-series trace, not just inferred from glowing nodes. Fire a short or a long input pulse, switch between AND and OR logic, and scroll/drag on the chart to zoom and pan through the last ~40 seconds of history.
Interactive 2D companion to the 3D feed-forward loop simulator: the same coherent type-1 gene-regulatory circuit rendered as a flat node-and-edge diagram, plus a scrubbable strip chart of X(t), Y(t) and Z(t) so the sign-sensitive delay between AND and OR promoter logic is visible directly as time-series curves crossing the activation threshold, not just inferred from glowing 3D nodes.
