DNA Methylation Drift: Maintenance Fidelity Simulator (2D)
A 2D CpG methylation heatmap simulator: tune DNMT1 maintenance fidelity, de novo methylation noise and TET-mediated demethylation, and watch a real Markov maintenance-methylation model drift generation after generation, with a live epigenetic-age estimate derived from the same relaxation kinetics.
Every time a cell divides, its DNA methylation pattern has to be copied along with the sequence itself — and that copying is imperfect. This 2D companion tracks 40 CpG sites across a population of 300 lineages, applying the real molecular tug-of-war between DNMT1 maintenance methylation, aberrant de novo methylation and active TET-mediated demethylation at every simulated cell division, and renders the population's β-value pattern as a scrolling heatmap: one row per division, one column per site. A live epigenetic-age readout, derived by analytically inverting the same two-state Markov relaxation model the engine simulates, tracks — and increasingly diverges from — the true division count exactly as real methylation-based age predictors do.
Simulate a population of DNA lineages replicating a CpG-marked double helix and watch stochastic DNMT1 maintenance errors, de novo methylation and TET demethylation drive the epigenetic drift that underlies real DNA-methylation age clocks.
