🧪 Medical Technology Health Monitoring Simulation
Interactive photoplethysmography (PPG) simulator: watch a wrist-worn optical sensor's red/IR light absorption change with every heartbeat, and see how the AC/DC ratio of that signal is turned into a live heart-rate and blood-oxygen (SpO2) reading, complete with motion-artifact noise and a signal-quality index.
This simulation demonstrates the use of medical technology for continuous patient health monitoring: a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor on the wrist, the same optical principle used by wearable fitness bands and clinical pulse oximeters. Red and infrared LEDs shine through the skin and a photodiode measures how much light returns; because arterial blood volume swells with every heartbeat, that returning light oscillates in sync with the pulse. Set the patient's true heart rate, blood-oxygen saturation, motion artifact and ambient light noise, and watch the sensor's raw red/IR waveform, then see the monitor independently re-derive a live heart-rate and SpO2 reading from that noisy optical signal, along with a signal-quality index that reflects how much you can trust it.
This simulation demonstrates the use of medical technology for continuous patient health monitoring, allowing users to learn about wearable sensors and data analytics in healthcare.
