A real-time 3D model of pulsed-wave color Doppler ultrasound: a transducer insonates pulsatile blood flow through a vessel, and every simulated red blood cell is colored live by its true Doppler shift, exactly the way a clinical color-flow map works. Push the peak velocity or lower the pulse repetition frequency far enough and the unambiguous Nyquist limit is exceeded — the color map wraps and flips from red to blue in the middle of the jet, reproducing the aliasing artifact sonographers see and correct for every day at the bedside.
