A real-time 2D model of pulsed-wave color Doppler ultrasound: a vessel cross-section is scanned along its length, and every horizontal streamline is colored live by its own true Doppler shift, exactly the way a clinical color-flow map works. Push the peak velocity or lower the pulse repetition frequency far enough and the unambiguous Nyquist limit is exceeded at the vessel center first — the color map wraps and flips from red to blue in the middle of the jet, reproducing the aliasing artifact sonographers see and correct for every day at the bedside.
