Telemedicine Simulation: Telestroke Hub-and-Spoke Network

Interactive 3D hub-and-spoke telestroke network simulator: patients arrive at remote spoke hospitals, travel over a real network link to a central neurologist hub, queue for consultation, and get treated -- watch queueing theory (M/M/1, Little's Law) and network latency decide whether the door-to-needle stroke treatment window is met.

This simulation models a real telemedicine technology stack -- a hub-and-spoke telestroke network -- from initial patient consultation through remote monitoring and data transmission. Remote spoke hospitals send urgent stroke-consult requests to a central neurologist hub over a real network link (fiber, rural cellular, or satellite), each request queues for the on-call neurologist under classic M/M/1 queueing dynamics, and the simulator tracks whether the resulting time-to-treatment beats the clinical door-to-needle target. Adjust the number of spoke sites, patient arrival rate, consult duration, and link quality, and watch live packets travel the network in 3D while the queueing-theory formulas and the actual simulated outcomes are shown side by side.

⚙ Under the hood

This simulation allows users to experience the core processes of telemedicine, from initial patient consultation to remote monitoring and data transmission. Participants will learn about the technologies and workflows involved in delivering healthcare services remotely.
